Women represent a small fraction of the AV/IT industry. We have an unwavering determination to stay our course, and we opt to be the driving force behind our journey.

WAVIT is an organization created by and for women in the AV/IT industries. Our goal is to provide a network that supports and empowers women in the AV and IT industries, through education, representation, and inclusion.

Founders Message

As members of and leaders within many varied industry associations, we are passionate about moving the needle towards more equity and representation. We’ve created a network for women to thrive with resources that will enrich, educate, inspire, and empower them. We know that ripples make waves, and that’s our intent.

We aim to support women in any way that makes them feel safer, more comfortable, and more confident. We will place a major emphasis on education, mentorship, and establishing career pathways for retaining women in the industry, as well as creating new pathways for young women to enter. Creating partner alliances with other trade associations, organizations, and media companies that bring opportunities for women to be championed and recognized for their strengths is what WAVIT is all about!

This year’s Northeast Regional Service Provider Softball Tournament is scheduled for May 18 at Eisenhower Park (Long Island) and we want you and your team to be a part of it! All funds raised by this event will go to the WAVIT outreach fund! 

This is a unique opportunity for your organization to support Women in AV/IT’s mission and outreach activities while cheering for your favorite AV/ IT service providers. WAVIT is a 501c3 and all donations are tax deductible. 

A League of Her Own Softball Outing

When: May 18, 2024 12pm-6pm
Where: Eisenhower Park, Long Island

  • Sponsorship amount: $1000 (Unlimited number available)
    Sponsors will be acknowledged in all promotional activities including social media, industry press and media, newsletters, and signage. Sponsors can send fans to the game to cheer on their favorite team!
    Sponsor contributions will directly support WAVIT’s efforts to empower, educate, and mentor women as well as outreach programs to introduce young ladies to the AV, IT, and security industries.
  • Cooler sponsor: $2000 (1 available)
    Sponsor what’s in the coolers at the game. Soda? Yup! Water? Sure! 21+ bevvies? Who are you kidding, it is the AV industry!

The AV/IT tech industry is facing a shortage of diverse talent and a lack of representation of women in leadership positions. At WAVIT, we believe that we can change this by creating an inclusive environment that attracts and retains female talent, by breaking the barriers that women face such as wage gap, bias, and lack of leadership opportunities, and by fostering upskilling and training for women in tech to help them stay competitive and relevant in the evolving world of technology.

Speakers Bureau

WAVIT launched its speakers bureau to help give women a greater share of voice in the ProAV and IT industries. 

“A core part of our mission is empowering women through representation,” said Althea Ricketts, WAVIT vice president and vice president of corporate initiatives at Shure. “Creating the WAVIT Speakers Bureau will allow us to recommend women speakers—who are very underrepresented in the ProAV and IT industries—to our media partners, associations, and the like. Being able to see women represented in the media and on various stages creates a more inclusive environment and encourages more women to grab a seat at the proverbial table” 

“I’ve had the mic passed to me many times, and it has helped my career immensely,” added Susan Wilhite. “At WAVIT, we’re excited to help women find places to share their voices—whether it’s through a blog, speaking on a panel, or simply being interviewed by industry media.” 

Women who are interested in joining the WAVIT Speakers Bureau can submit their information below. The WAVIT Speakers Bureau is open to both members and non-members; however, members will be given preference for these opportunities.
